The Art Behind the Design

Every Studio Series design is painted entirely by hand in our Michigan studio by artist Barbara Downey, using a process she has refined over nearly 30 years. The damask pattern extends from screen onto frame — painted as one continuous bold composition. No two pieces are ever quite identical. That’s not a flaw — that’s the point.

The Frame

The white distressed finish gives the Damask Design a crisp clean backdrop that makes the bold black pattern pop with maximum impact. Applied by hand, worn edges reveal warm wood beneath — softening the high contrast ever so slightly. The Studio Series uses more substantial wood than our Classic Series — you’ll feel the difference immediately.
