The Art Behind the Design

Every Confetti is painted entirely by hand in our Michigan studio by artist Barbara Downey, using a process she has refined over nearly 30 years. The technique is entirely our own — part American folk art tradition, part closely guarded studio secret. What begins as a blank screen becomes something you’ll want to look at every single day.

The colorful dot and circle design extends from the screen onto the solid wood frame itself — painted as one continuous burst of color, so the joy spills right to the edges and beyond. No two pieces are ever quite identical. That’s not a flaw — that’s the point.

The Frame

The Confetti features one of the rarest frame treatments in our collection — a fully hand-painted purple frame that coordinates with a matching purple necklace stand, bar, and base. Unlike our standard distressed and stained finishes, this is a custom painted color combination applied entirely by hand by artist Barbara Downey.
