The Art Behind the Design

Every Bamboo Jewelry Cabinet is painted entirely by hand in our Michigan studio by artist Barbara Downey, using a process she has refined over nearly 30 years. The bamboo design extends from screen onto the solid wood frame — painted as one continuous tropical composition. No two pieces are ever quite identical. That’s not a flaw — that’s the point.

The Frame

The walnut stained finish is warm, rich, and natural — and because this is a stain rather than a paint, the natural pine grain shows through completely, giving every single frame its own unique character. No two walnut frames ever look quite alike. At 2¾” deep the Cabinet mounts flush to your wall with two attached picture hangers on the felt-lined back.
