The Art Behind the Design

Every Jacobean Jewelry Cabinet is painted entirely by hand in our Michigan studio by artist Barbara Downey, using a process she has refined over nearly 30 years. The Jacobean botanical pattern draws on a centuries-old design tradition — painted entirely freehand, no two pieces flow in exactly the same way. No two pieces are ever quite identical. That’s not a flaw — that’s the point.

The Frame

The weathered gray finish gives the Jacobean Jewelry Cabinet its most distinctive quality — design and frame harmonize so naturally the whole piece feels unified. Because this is a stain rather than a paint, the natural pine grain shows through completely — every frame unique.
